ICCN Exchange Program 2013

The ICCN Secretariat started the process for the ICCN exchange program 2013. With the last year’s huge success, it is a great pleasure to offer the exchange program again. The Secretariat called for candidates to apply from February 15 to March 15. Many experienced candidates from diverse member cities have applied and three of them were granted a chance to become participants for this year’s program.

Final participants are Ms. Anita Brajinovic (Dubrovnic, Croatia) for the International Conference Training and Mr. Itahi Kadosi (Rosh Ha'Ain, Israel) for promoting ICCN and members’ culture.

As it is indicated, each participant will have different projects during their stay in Gangneung. In addition, they will get a chance to experience “Gangneung Danoje” festival and Gangneung Coffee festival, which are the representative festivals in Korea. Also, they will introduce and promote ICCN members’ cultures into Gangneung and Korea.

As the result of the ICCN GA, 9 cities from 9 different countries (Banepa of Nepal, Dubrovnik of Croatia, Beit Shahur of Palestine, Bagerat of Bangladesh, Galle of Sri Lanka, Irkutsk of Russia, Algemasi of Spain, Samarkand of Uzbekistan and Mangshi of China) joined the ICCN as full members and 7 organizations from 7 different countries (ArteSol of Brazil, Craft Revival of India, the Companions of Ariya Institute of Iran, Algemasi museum of Spain, Hong Kong Culture Heritage Studies and Promotion Association of Hong Kong, Vietnamese Women’s Museum of Vietnam and Trompehn Museum of Netherlands) have joined the ICCN. Secretary General of ICCN, invited for the International Conference “Exploring New Cultural Horizons for Tourism” by UNWTO

Dr. Heekyung Choi, Secretary General of ICCN, has been invited for the International Conference “Exploring New Cultural Horizons for Tourism” jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture of Bahrain and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). She will deliver her speech titled as “How to Integrate Intangible Cultural Heritage in Tourism Development” and she will focus on the experiences of the ICCN festival as an example for showcasing the integration of ICH in tourism development. The conference will be held from 28 to 30 of April, in Manama, Bahrain. Many leaders of the public and private sectors from the field of cultural management and tourism will participate in this conference and discuss pressing issues; investing in cultural tourism, tourism and cultural heritage, Incorporating intangible heritage and living cultures in tourism development, reviving cultural and spiritual routes, innovating in heritage interpretation and developing heritage networks, and practical experiences in managing tourism in World Heritage Sites.
